Ms. Miller's Page: IA Academy

Drama, Dance, Interdisciplinary Arts Academy

WELCOME

SD42 INTERDISCIPLINARY ARTS ACADEMY 2023 SHOW:

Two brothers set out to write the world’s first musical in this hilarious mash-up of sixteenth-century Shakespeare and twenty-first-century Broadway.

"Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as "The Bard." When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz." (Musical Theatre International)

About the Director/Producer:

Before joining the staff at Garibaldi Secondary, Ms. Miller received her BFA from UVic and returned to the Kootenays to work in a local musical theatre company. After completing the season with them, she had the opportunity to start theatre and film classes for the new independent school in town.
She enjoyed the work in the film class very much and when the opportunity to move back to the coast to work in the film industry came up, she took it. Over the next few years, Ms. Miller worked on many sets and production offices in commercials, television, and film. While she had a lot of fun, met a bunch of really cool people, and learned a lot, the work hours weren’t conducive to the life style she wanted to live.
Inspired by her time spent teaching in the independent school, she went back to school to get her BEd, in Theatre and IB, from UBC. Upon graduation, she accepted the job at Garibaldi, where she has worked since 2019.
