About Adrienne Gear

About Adrienne Gear!

Adrienne Gear is an elementary teacher in Vancouver, Canada, where she has taught for over 20 years. She is passionate about teaching, learning and best practice.  She is obsessed with children’s literature and how to integrate books into all areas of learning.

She also is a writer and has published 3 professional resources for teachers in the area of literacy:  Reading Power: Teaching Students How to Think While They Read (Pembroke 2006); Nonfiction Reading Power: Teaching Students How To Think While They Read All Kinds of Information (Pembroke, 2008) and Writing Power: Engaging Thinking Through Writing (Pembroke, 2011).   Many of us at Alouette use her books to guide our literacy practices.

Her blog is a place where she shares some of her lesson ideas and books she loves with others.  Every Monday she writes a blog post called, "It's Monday, what are you reading?".  This is one place where I get ideas on what new books I should buy for our library.  Check out the link below!
