Pinned Message

Dear Parents and Students,

It is my sincere hope that in these confusing and stressful times that you are able to find some sense of normalcy through the time we spend on continuing our investigations into our classwork. I know that it can be difficult so I am going to try to make it as fun as possible and as relevant as possible.

I will be calling all my families at some point in this week, so please be open to taking my call and checking in. I will ask you your preference for further communication because I know that some people prefer digital communication like email or group messaging (the SD uses Skype so I will likely arrange that as well) while others prefer a personal phone call.

Here is my plan for going forward. I will aim to offer about 2-3 hours of practice time a week for each class that you are taking with me. I will post links, videos, worksheets, and assignments under a header for each week. I will have the week of lessons prepared and posted for Monday morning. I will try to reach out to everyone to send the link to the page digitally and via telephone to make sure they have the content and understand the goals of the work.

This is largely uncharted territory for me because I have never taught an online course, nor have I participated in one. I'm an in-person and on-paper kinda gal. If you can think of a better way to do this work please, I am welcome to suggestions.

Also know that I recognize these can be very emotionally and physically challenging times. You're bored from being isolated and it feels like the world is burning. I will make a special tab for mindfulness and social-emotional growth practices on my page. While I know that it's not everyone's cup of tea I want to encourage everyone to take good care of yourself by physical distancing, washing your hands, eating good quality healthy food, and limiting your screen time if you can. There are several vectors to consider when you are trying to maintain a healthy life in these times.

Moving to Google Classroom

Dear Parents and Students,

I know that these times are confusing and challenging, but I have been struggling to maintain this interface for the organic teaching experience. I am moving all my classes to Google Classroom. If you please sign in under your student email (through the school district) with student#@mrpm.sd42.ca that will allow you free access to all of the features of Google Classroom.

If you are joining French 8 (All Blocks) use code: wi3klst

If you are joining French 9 (All Blocks) use code: n43ghux

If you are joining English 8 use code: i3pvftc

If you are joining Socials 8 use code: zpkubbf

If you get stumped on how to use the system there are many tutorials online and I am starting to learn how to do things too.

Thank you and take care!
