Content

  • Electricity – generated in different ways with different environmental impacts
  • Evidence of climate change over geological time and the recent impacts of humans – physical records

Curricular Competencies

  • Questioning and predicting – What is the energy consumption of your school? Your house? What about your local community centre?
  • Planning and conducting – Organize a power down month to investigate the reduction in energy consumption in your school/house/community centre.
  • Processing and analyzing data and information + Evaluating – How much did your building’s energy decrease over the month?
  • Applying and innovating – What can your school do to decrease its long term energy use? The same question applies for any other building type.
  • Communicating – Communicate your findings to your class, your Principal and even your Board of Education, Mayor & Council.
