Garibaldi Secondary School is located on the east side of Maple Ridge between the Fraser River and the Golden Ears mountains. It is surrounded by low density residential housing and rural acreages. On a sunny day, the view is spectacular.
In recent years, Garibaldi has attracted more and more students from abroad, which in turn has made the student body more multicultural. Around ten percent of the student body hails from foreign shores.
Garibaldi is also a World IB school and offers a wide range of academic and elective programs.
While not an athletic powerhouse, Garibaldi runs competitive programs in girls and boys volleyball, girls and boys basketball, girls and boys soccer, boys rugby, as well as cross country, track and field, swimming, water polo, badminton, and fly fishing. Garibaldi is also proud of its very active student body which runs the Student Government and the Student Action Team, amongst other student initiatives.
The Garibaldi Theatre program is known throughout the Fraser Valley and Vancouver for its annual productions which sell out every year, and it is known locally for the ever popular talent nights called "Psycho Session". The school's music department is actively involved in musical theatre productions as well as offering a number of choir and band concerts every year.
